Outbound Calls Routing to Another App

Why is this happening?

When you make an outbound call through Burner, the call normally forwards through your device's default phone dialer (your main cell phone number). If you have a third-party calling app installed — such as Skype, Google Voice, or WhatsApp — and it's set as your default dialer, your device may route the call there instead of through your carrier. This causes the call to fail or behave unexpectedly.

How to fix it:

You have two options to resolve this:

Option 1: Change your default calling app or temporarily remove the other app

  1. Go to your device settings and set your native phone app as the default dialer, or temporarily delete the third-party calling app (WhatsApp, Skype, etc.)
  2. Open Burner and try making an outbound call
  3. Once confirmed working, you can reinstall the third-party app

Option 2: Enable In-App Calling (VoIP)

Turn on In-App Calling in Burner. This keeps calls entirely within the Burner app and doesn't route through your device's default dialer or your main cell number at all — which also avoids conflicts with other apps. 👉 Learn how to enable In-App Calling here
