Fraudulent or Unrecognized Charges

If you’re seeing a charge you don’t recognize, we understand how concerning that can be. This guide will help you determine where the charge came from and what steps to take next.


Step 1: Check for Another Account

In many cases, the charges are linked to a different account. Before taking further action, please check:

  • Whether you have multiple email addresses
  • If a family member or someone else may have used your payment method
  • Any alternate Burner accounts you may have created


Step 2: Identify Where the Charge Came From

Burner subscriptions can be billed through different platforms:

  • Apple (App Store)
  • Google Play Store
  • Web (direct payment via Burner)
To confirm:
  • Check your email for a receipt
  • Review your bank statement for billing details

Step 3: If the Charge Is Unauthorized

If you’ve confirmed the charge is not associated with any of your accounts:

  • Contact your bank or card provider immediately
  • Report the charge as unauthorized
  • Request a review or dispute

Your bank is best equipped to investigate and take steps to secure your account.
