Message Retainment

Message Retention & Data Storage

We understand how important your conversations can be, so here’s how message retention works in Burner.

Active Burner Numbers

While your Burner number is active, your text messages and call history are available within the app.

After a Number Expires or is Burned

Once a Burner number is expired or burned, all associated message content (texts and media) is permanently deleted from our system.

This means:

  • Text messages cannot be recovered
  • Media (photos/videos) cannot be retrieved
  • Conversation history is removed

What Information Is Retained

Although message content is deleted, we may retain limited activity records, such as:

  • The date and time a call or message was sent or received
  • Basic usage activity (for system and account purposes)

These records do not include the content of messages or calls.

Important to Know

Because message content is permanently deleted after a number expires or is burned, we recommend saving any important information before that happens.
