Burner Premium - PIP (Personal Info Protection)

The Personal Info Protection (PIP) feature helps you take control of your personal information by automatically identifying and removing your data from data broker sites.

Data brokers are companies that collect, aggregate, and sell personal information from various sources. This can include your name, age, address, phone number, browsing habits, purchase history, and more. Data brokers compile this information into detailed profiles and sell it to advertisers, marketers, or other third parties.

Having your information listed on data broker sites can lead to unwanted marketing, spam calls, or even identity theft. PIP is designed to help you remove this data so you can better protect your privacy.

Note: Currently, if you are a Burner Premium user, this is only available for iOS. We hope to have it out for Android users soon.

How to Access PIP

Open the app.
Tap More from the home view located at the bottom right of the screen.
Tap Personal Info Protection at the top of the menu.

Getting Started

When you first open PIP, you’ll be asked to enter:
- Your Name
- Your Age
- Your City
Once entered, you’ll be taken to a Scan page. Here, you’ll see a list of possible matches of your personal information found on data broker websites.
At any time, you can tap Remove Information to begin the deletion process.

Enrolling in PIP

If you’re a Premium subscriber, you’ll automatically be enrolled in PIP and data removal will begin.
If you’re not a Premium subscriber, you can still run the free scan — but you’ll need to upgrade to Premium in order to start the removal process.

Tracking Removals

On the PIP dashboard (found in More), you can see the status of each data broker removal. Each site will show one of four states:

In Progress: Your data is currently being removed automatically.
Action Required: Some brokers require manual steps from you — PIP will guide you through what’s required.
Completed: Your data has been successfully removed.
Canceled: If you unsubscribe from Premium, any in-progress removals will be canceled.

The dashboard is always up-to-date and reflects the current status of your removals.

Ongoing Protection

Once enrolled, your information will be rescanned and deleted every quarter to catch new listings.
Deletion times vary: some brokers complete removals in just a few days, while others can take a couple of months.
Not all matches will be exact. Sometimes, you may see information that doesn’t perfectly match you — this is normal.

Important Notes

Currently, PIP is available for iOS only (Android is coming soon).
PIP removes your information only from data broker sites. It will not remove information from other parts of the internet (like news articles or social media).
For some brokers, manual steps are required, and PIP will guide you through them.
In some rare cases, no information will be found about a user given the provided information. For best results, use up to date information when creating your scan.
Only 1 set of information can be used for any 1 Burner Premium subscription. You can't create multiple scans.
