In-App Calling (VoIP)

In-app calling, or VoIP, is the ability for your Burner to make and receive calls through an internet connection such as cellular data or wifi.

Note: In-app calling is available for all Android users. The feature is still in beta for iOS, so only a select group of customers have access to it. Thanks for your patience while we complete testing.

In-app calling is managed on a per line basis. To activate in-app calling for a Burner, you have to toggle the setting on each line.

Here's how:
  1. On the home screen of the Burner app, tap the gear wheel at the bottom of the page.
  2. If you have more than one Burner, choose the Burner you wish to change.
  3. Scroll down until you find "In-app Calling."
  4. Slide the toggle to the "On" Position.

In-app calling is now activated. When you make or receive calls, they will be passed through your internet connection.

When a Call Comes in...

A notification will be sent to your phone. Tap to accept the call. Through VoIP, we can maintain your privacy without forwarding to your main phone line (since we're using the internet to make the call).

Once you're in the app, the screen will indicate who is calling and the Burner they dialed. There's also an icon to show if it is on VoIP or regular calling.

If your data/wifi connection is poor or lost, the call will fail. If that happens, it's easy to flip back and forth between your carrier connection and in-app calling.
